Pakistan Successfully Deploys Advanced Remote Sensing Satellite, Boosting Space Capabilities

Islamabad, August 16, 2025 — Pakistan has achieved another milestone in space exploration as the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) confirmed the successful deployment of its advanced remote sensing satellite. The satellite was launched from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center on July 31, 2025, and is now fully operational.
According to SUPARCO, the satellite has established stable communication with ground stations and is actively transmitting high-resolution images. The advanced imaging system is expected to play a vital role in urban planning, infrastructure development, and regional monitoring.
Key Benefits of the Satellite Deployment
Disaster Management: Provides early warnings for floods, landslides, and earthquakes, strengthening Pakistan’s emergency response systems.
Agriculture: Enhances crop mapping and water resource management, improving food security and agricultural productivity.
National Projects: Supports China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) by mapping transport routes, monitoring infrastructure, and identifying geohazards.
Sustainable Development: Facilitates efficient use of natural resources while promoting environmentally responsible growth.
Pakistan’s Expanding Space Program
This achievement comes after Pakistan’s recent advancements in space technology:
Earlier in 2025, Pakistan launched an indigenous Electro-Optical satellite designed for disaster prediction.
In 2024, PakSat-MM1 expanded high-speed internet access to remote regions.
The student-developed iCube Qamar satellite captured detailed images of the Moon, showcasing the talent of young Pakistani scientists.
Looking ahead, Pakistan plans to participate in China’s Chang’E-8 lunar mission in 2028, where it will contribute a lunar rover, further cementing its presence in international space exploration.
A Growing Global Presence in Space Science
SUPARCO emphasized that the deployment of this satellite highlights Pakistan’s determination to embrace cutting-edge space technology and its commitment to advancing scientific research, national development, and global cooperation.
With these achievements, Pakistan is steadily emerging as a regional leader in space technology, setting the foundation for sustainable growth, disaster resilience, and technological innovation.
